India’s multi-designer fashion house ‘Karmik’ is scheduled to launch its first store in Lahore, Pakistan, by the end of August 2013.

The store would offer designer wear from India’s top designers including JJ Valaya, Rohit Bal, Rocky S and Rina Dhaka, among others.

Pakistan is emerging as a huge market for Indian designers, with a growing appetite for India-made Sherwanis and Salwars among the consumers in the country.

Mumbai-based Kimaya Fashions, which has investments from private equity firm Franklin Templeton, signed a master franchise deal with Lahore-based fashion retailer Arshadsons to open the multi-brand stores in Pakistan, reports The Economic Times.

As part of the deal, Arshadsons plans to open at least six 'Karmik' stores in cities such as Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad over the next three years, followed by smaller towns.

Despite the huge popularity of Indian designers in Pakistan, there are no standalone stores in the country offering designer wear from India.

Renowned Indian designer, JJ Valaya, said fashion does not understand political boundaries.

The designer has done a few standalone fashion shows in Pakistan and also has a tie-up with a cloth-mill in the country for premium designer fabric under his own label.

Karmik is a part of Kimaya Fashions, and is a fashion house that offers affordable designer wear, and collections of Indian ethnic wear accessible for a wider group of people.
