RUSH portrays the exhilarating true story of two of the greatest rivals the world has ever witnessed—handsome English playboy James Hunt, played by Chris Hemsworth, and his methodical, brilliant opponent, Niki Lauda, played by Daniel Brühl.
Taking us into their personal lives on and off the track, RUSH follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error. If you make one mistake, you die.
Frida Giannini said, “The Seventies has always been a decade that has inspired me greatly, so it was extremely exciting to be asked by Ron Howard to help design wardrobes for RUSH. It is hard to think of a more glamorous profession than being a racing driver in the Seventies.
"James Hunt's style is full of animal sensuality, perfectly brought out by Chris Hemsworth in the period-evoking outfits. While the style of Suzy Miller, played by Olivia Wilde, is the essence of Gucci as it captures the mixture of sexy allure and innocent naturalness that defined the style of the time.”
In the film, James Hunt and Suzy Miller’s characters, both wear wardrobes from the Gucci archive. While the film is set in the Seventies, the thoroughly researched and carefully selected designs from the Gucci archive are in fact from Frida Giannini’s past collections, which have often taken inspiration from the House’s archive to recreate the sensual, luxurious look that has always defined Gucci.
For RUSH, Howard, a two-time Academy Award winner (A Beautiful Mind), teams once again with fellow two-time Academy Award nominee, writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen). RUSH is co-financed and produced by Exclusive Media and Cross Creek Pictures, in association with Imagine Entertainment. Working Title Films, Brian Grazer and Revolution Films are also producing.
