HOTR to fill gap between runway & living rooms

As designers showcase their spring collections during the whirlwind series of presentations known as Fashion Month, a new website aims to fill the gap between the runway and our living rooms.

Home on the Runway (HOTR), a Baltimore-based blog and shopping site, is putting a fine point on the continuing dialogue between fashion and interior design. While other sites merely dabble in this space, HOTR is wholly dedicated to helping its reader attain “fashion-infused” home décor through original and curated content.

The mid-Atlantic may seem an unlikely place to launch a fashion and design website, but it was this very locale that partly inspired HOTR. After moving to Baltimore from New York City, founder Fanny Zigdon grew to recognize the Web as the ultimate creative community, its inspiration far-reaching and irrespective of location.

“I didn’t need to live in New York to live and breathe fashion,” she notes. This realization, along with her expertise as an interior designer, soon led to the founding of Home on the Runway. The site especially highlights her love of fashion-inspired décor; and with a pre-launch Instagram following of over 26,000.

Eager followers comment, like, and repost HOTR’s steady stream of inspiring imagery while growing their numbers by nearly a thousand each week. Now the countdown begins to take this inspiration from a single Instagram feed to a full-fledged, shoppable website with editorials, trend reports, decorating advice, and other specialty content.

Fanny and her team are ready for the challenge. With the launch just days away, they have already lined up a series of articles featuring bloggers, designers, and everyday (but super-stylish) people. Regular columns include A Fashionable Life and In the Spotlight, which give readers a peek into homes, workplaces, brands, and boutiques from around the globe.

But while the subjects are varied, they have one common thread, an aesthetic that’s both fashionable and attainable. “Our focus isn’t on the most extravagant or expensive,” reads HOTR’s mission, “but rather, the most stylish and attainable. We believe that by mixing principles common to fashion and interior design along with an eye for style and a dash of personality, anyone can achieve their dream space!”
