Beaufille opens World MasterCard Fashion Week

Popular Canadian label Beaufille kicked off the ongoing Spring/Summer 2014 edition of semi-annual sartorial fest World MasterCard Fashion Week (WMCFW) in Toronto with its latest runway line.

Earlier known as Chloé Comme Parris, the rebranded womenswear and accessory range, owned by sister duo Chloé and Parris Gordon, presented a perfect blend of femininity with edgy rock 'n' roll looks.

With an abundance of white, navy blue, teal, grey and subdued coral shades, the collection showcased a homogenous mixture of monochromatic separates, glittering metallic tones and washed out geometric prints. The line included loose-fit camisole-style tanks, long-sleeved tops, wrap-around skirts, metal embellished jackets and dresses with strategic cutouts and pants.

Inspired from 1960s fashion and pop art, the designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran, from Toronto-based sophisticated clothing brand Pink Tartan, featured a heavy on dots and graphic print collection on the opening day of WMCFW.

Based on a palette of black and white with occasional splashes of navy, the line presented flared skirts, sheaths, fitted jackets, cardigans, blazers, knee-length shorts and capris, decorated with patterns of checkerboards, stripes, blocks, florals and diamonds.

Canadian born designer David Dixon drew inspiration from the popular Nancy Tillman written children’s book ‘On the Night You Were Born’ for his latest catwalk collection made from luxe silk, organza and lace fabrics.

Adorned with sheer panelling, laser cut petals, feathered trims and sequins, the line included floor sweeping dresses, sleek tanks, skirts, sheaths, coats, suits and bodices in black and white.
