An array of soft luxurious wearable separates, ideal for a relaxed lounge like atmosphere, were paraded on the ramp by Toronto-based online boutique Whitney Linen on the fourth day of World MasterCard Fashion Week Toronto.

Designed by Whitney Westwood, the day and evening wear range was based on a sophisticated palette of white, camel, navy and pale blue colours. The collection’s womenswear pieces included tailored and flowing pants, wrap jackets, cute bow blouses, smart cargo shirts, printed short and long caftans, slinky tops with open sleeves, double-tone halter gowns and shirtdresses. The featured menswear ensembles were tailored trousers, shorts, blazers, scarves, satin-decorated tuxedo suits and a few sleepwear essentials like drawstring pants and loose-fit bathrobes.

Target, the US based discount retailer, went against the tide by choosing to showcase apparels for the upcoming festive season, instead of the Spring/Summer 2014 season, at the Canadian event. The retail giant’s womenswear line was decorated with graphic and lumberjack prints as well as huge check, plaid or hounds tooth patterns. Based in tones of black, teal, white and red, the colourful collection featured pullovers, skirts, jackets and comfortable pants. For men, the formal and casual mixed looks included turtlenecks, blazers, cardigans, red and green trousers and traditional slim-fit denims.

The Montreal-based label Soia & Kyo, from Ilan Elfassy, showcased a minimalistic subdued range. Inspired from the freshness of a breezy rooftop garden, the designer featured suede and quilted material made outerwear ensembles like puffer coats, trenches and varsity-style jackets in blush pink, baby blue, mocha, sand, tan, cream and minty hues.

Calgary-born and Toronto-based talent Caitlin Power drew inspiration from the French and Caribbean coastal beauty for her catwalk collection. Replete with bright shades and prints, the line was adorned with criss-cross designs, giant graphic prints and delicate patterns. The ensembles were leather panelled shorts, blouses featuring keyhole cutouts, and fitted suit jackets and dresses with plunging necklines.
