The Spanish magazine Mujer Hoy (Women Today) organized its Mujer Hoy Moda (MHM) Summit 2013 wherein industry leaders discussed the latest trends of the fashion industry of Spain and the future of this sector in the coming years.

Held under the theme ‘New strategy for the fashion industry of Spain’, the summit organized by the Spanish women’s magazine Mujer Hoy, saw participation from various professionals including Spain’s Export and Investment (ICEX) director Dona Maria del Coriseo Gonzalez.

At the summit, Ms. Gozalez said the exports of goods from the Spanish fashion industry has seen a significant increase so far this year as exports have risen 12 percent compared to the same period last year.

The competitiveness of the Spanish fashion sector and increasing productivity are the reasons for the increase in the exports of products from the sector, she added.

Industrialists at the fashion summit also discussed the challenges faced by the latest generation of Spanish firms operating in the fashion sector and the rise of e-commerce in the Spanish fashion industry.

Participants at the summit included Ignacio R Sierra, director general of Grupo Cortefiel, Alejandro Laquidain, president of Spanish Intertextile Council and Angel Asensio, president of the Spanish Federation of Garments (FEDECON).

MHM Summit is a fashion conference organized with the objective of providing a platform for different professionals involved in the fashion industry to analyze the present and future of the sector, devise strategies to compete in the international market, discuss the relationship between media and fashion and develop new formulas for the growth of companies working in the fashion sector.
