The awards were presented at a star-studded, exclusive gala event at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Erdem Moralioglu, more commonly known as just Erdem, truly puts the “Global” into the Fashion Awards. Born in Canada to Turkish and English parents, Erdem went on to study at Ryerson University in Toronto before moving to the UK to study at the prestigious Royal College of Art.
He then moved to New York to spend a year at Diane von Furstenberg before returning to the UK to set up his own label, which is now a fi rm favourite among royals, fi rst ladies, movie stars and style leaders around the world who have been seduced by his expert-eye for proportion, silhouette and exquisite detail.
Erdem’s show is now one of the hottest tickets of London Fashion Week and he counts some of the world’s most prestigious retailers as stockists including Barneys New York (an early champion), NET-A-PORTER (for whom he designed an exclusive collection in 2011), Saks Fifth Avenue, Harvey Nichols and Colette. He describes each of his collections as a new chapter in the book for the Erdem woman.
No stranger to accolades, Erdem won the inaugural British Fashion Council/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2010, a WGSN Global Fashion Award in 2011 and the British Fashion Awards “New Establishment” Award in 2012.
