An exhibition exploring the relationship shared between fashion and the influential women of the twentieth century Italy is going on at the famous Renaissance palace Palazzo Pitti, Florence.

The exhibit aims to not only offer an insight into the lives of last century women but also how they played and modified fashion to suit and amplify their respective personalities.

Among the pieces that are on display is a collection of three beautiful dresses, worn by the yesteryear’s famous Italian pop singer Patty Pravo at three editions of the Sanremo Music Festival, held in the years 1984, 1987 and 2002.

The featured exhibits also include creations by the late Tirano-born style designer Rosa Genoni, Spanish couturier Mariano Fortuny-designed outfit for the famed Italian actress Eleonora Duse, Sicilian aristocrat Franca Florio’s clothing and dresses from the wardrobe of muse and wife of the poet Salvatore Quasimodo, Maria Cumani.

Additionally, clothes of popular Italian novelist Anna Rontani and a selection of nine bridal gowns also form a part of the permanent Florentine exhibition.
