Christopher Ræburn, the British fashion designer, has collaborated with the storied UK-based heritage brand Barbour to create a womenswear collection, inspired from the label’s archived military designs.

The 31-year-old London Fashion Week rising star drew inspiration from the label’s highly celebrated Ursula suit, which was named after a U-class submarine, for the Autumn/Winter-2014 range.

Scheduled to be released sometime in August, 2014, the fun and feminine line is replete with the British label’s Tartans and Ræburn’s signature snow prints.

The collection will feature jackets, knitwear, shirts and shirt dresses along with accessories like hats, gloves and scarves.

The famed Ursula suit, which is comprised of a jacket and a pair of trousers, was originally inspired by a water-proof Barbour motorcycle gear, worn by a lieutenant, serving under the Ursula submarine commander Captain George Phillips in the year 1937.

Known for his unique utilization and re-appropriation of military fabrics, Ræburn is an alumnus of London’s Royal College of Art.

Founded in 1894, Barbour specializes in designing, manufacturing and marketing men’s women’s and children’s clothing. The company is specially known for its waxed cotton outdoor jackets.
