Emerging labels redefine Pakistani fashion industry

Pakistan, a country known for rich traditional embroidery and exquisite textiles, is gradually making a mark in the world of fashion with new emerging labels redefining trends through their unique creations.

The nation’s expert craftsmanship and extraordinary designs were recently witnessed during the latest editions of PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week and Pantene Bridal Couture Week which featured extravagant collections from several well-known and young leading designers.

The Lahore held events showcased an array of bejewelled gold and crimson hued bridal lines from names like Ali Xeeshan Theatre Studio, Asifa & Nabeel, Deena Rehman, Élan, Exist, Fahad Hussayn, Zainab Chottani, Zaheer Abbas, Amna Ajmal, Saim Ali, Mona Imran and Asifa & Nabeel.

Apart from the heavily embellished wedding trousseaus, the nation is also famous for its extravagant textiles. At the Spring/Summer season of PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week, several Pakistani designers displayed their vibrantly toned voile collections.

Fashion talents Zonia Anwaar, Nida Azwer and Layla Chatoor mesmerised the onlookers with their floral and animal motif adorned western designs such as dresses with high hemlines, jumpsuits, pants and blouses.

Other than women-centric fashion, the country has also managed to create a separate exclusive platform for its burgeoning male fashion industry.

In May, 2013, Pakistan hosted its first-ever Men’s Fashion Show, which showcased creations from around 10 menswear designers from Karachi and Lahore.

Popular brands like Yahseer, Daniyal, Shahnameh, and Faisal and Shaban Shab presented both eastern and western casual and formal wear ensembles, including double-breast jackets, long and tail coats, hats, angrakha-cut sherwanis and richly embroidered long shirts.
