Italian powerhouses cap off Milan Men's Fashion Week

Biggest Italian fashion powerhouses like Armani, Fendi and Roberto Cavalli brought down the curtains of Milan Men’s Fashion Week with their avant-garde designs.

Once again, the 79-year-old design veteran Giorgio Armani brought his first claim to fame, the broad- shouldered 1970s deconstructed jacket, back to the runway on the final day of the event. The designer presented a reworked version of his famous piece, which initially had helped him in getting the world’s attention, in the latest fall-winter 2014 menswear collection.

Based on softer roomy silhouettes, the relaxed gently sloping jacket was smartly teamed up with a thoroughly button-down vest and straight cut pants. Other than the loose three-piece suit, the collection also featured belted tweed coats, sweaters and baggy trousers.

Italian luxury fashion brand Fendi went back to its staple material fur for its latest menswear show. Designed under the aesthetic guidance of the granddaughter of Fendi label founders Edoardo and Adele Fendi, Silvia Venturini Fendi, the playful line showcased knitted sweaters, neoprene-crafted bomber jackets, soft fluffy gloves and furry caps.

Designer Roberto Cavalli displayed a very fun, interesting collection for fashion savvy men of today. The line featured zebra-print overcoats, slim-fit suits, studded leather biker jackets and furry long coats.

High-end Roman fashion house Brioni was inspired from the label’s co-founder Gaetano Savini’s 1963 Japan tour for its latest runway presentation. Designed by Brendan Mullane, the Japanese artisan-painted ensembles were based in tones of gray, cherry blossom and sky blue.
