Alexandra hosted an all-day party on the 29th of January to introduce the space and her work to press, buyers, stylists, select clientele and celebrities, whose privacy Alexandra guards with the utmost discretion.
Monochrome cupcakes by Cakehole London were served alongside Louis Roederer champagne whilst visitors explored Alexandra’s creations and mingled with the designer herself.
Positioned in the middle of one of London’s most fashionable areas, the bold black exterior, blazoned with the Alexandra Harper Millinery London branding is decorated inside with antique tables and display cases and vintage-style mannequin heads.
A vibe of old-world charm sits perfectly against the modern black and white colour blocked walls, all setting the tone for Alexandra’s pioneering style and individuality.
Blending expert knowledge of classic millinery with innovative techniques and a directional vision, Alexandra trained in Queensland, launching her label in 2004. A media favourite, Alexandra’s headwear has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Russian Vogue and on Lara Stone in Interview Magazine. She has exhibited in ‘Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones’ at the Queensland Art Gallery and showed at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival in Brisbane.
Tucked away in the historic New River area of Clerkenwell in a Grade II listed building, the boutique is bookended by the William Bennington Gallery and London’s esteemed Sadler’s Wells Theatre, on 25 Arlington Way. Millinery fans can visit the boutique and meet Alexandra by appointment, or by chance.
