Kering announced at the company’s Annual General Meeting that it has published a comprehensive Progress Report detailing its efforts towards achieving its Sustainability Targets, two years after the Group’s commitment to attain a series of self-imposed environmental and social targets across its Luxury and Sport & Lifestyle activities by 2016.

Highlights:
-30 kg purchase order of Fairmined certified gold representing the single largest purchase in the Luxury sector, and across all sectors
-Materials Innovation Lab (MIL) created, archive and research library of sustainable fabrics
-“Heavy metal-free” tanning processing solution as a first in the Luxury sector

The ambitious Group-wide 2016 Targets are focused around key areas of environmental and social impact across the Group’s supply chains and its business, and encompasses raw material sourcing, packaging, water, waste and carbon emissions, hazardous chemicals and PVC, and supplier standards. The Progress Report is an important milestone for the Group to chart transparently the efforts that have been made, as well as outline the challenges that still need to be overcome.

“As a business we need to be smart, adaptive, innovative, and sustainable to understand our risks and continue to seek out opportunities to succeed in the future,” said François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO, Kering. “Two years ago we set clear goals to reach by 2016, and I am pleased with the progress we have made in implementing internal actions and in establishing industry collaborations to help address our main challenges.

"All our targets are important but some are especially ambitious: indeed, it is only by setting visionary goals and milestones that we will challenge ourselves to really make changes and to drive more ethical, social and environmental performance across our business, our supply chains, and our sector.”

“We are focused and committed to enhancing our own business and be a business model that can illustrate and leverage change in our industry, while being transparent and collaborative in the process,” said Marie-Claire Daveu, Chief Sustainability Officer and Head of international institutional affairs, Kering. "Transparency and engagement with our stakeholders around the world is paramount and will help us continue to challenge ourselves to reach our sustainability ambitions.”
