Cristiano Ronaldo's CR7 brand launches shirt collection

Jul '14
After his last year’s CR7 by Cristiano Ronaldo innerwear line debut, the Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is back with his first ever menswear collection for the same label.

Designed under the creative guidance of the New York-based fashion designer Richard Chai, the line features an array of classic clean, sleek cut shirts with a contemporary twist.

Replete with contrast piping details in the necklines, the pieces feature a CR7 tag on the bottom side-seams and are crafted from colour blocking and patterned materials, such as dots, stripes and printed plaid.

While speaking about the range, the footballer says, “Part of my belief is always being the best that you can be. The perfect fitting shirt gives a man the confidence to become the best version of himself possible.”

The designer of the line, Chai introduces the new line as, “The CR7 Shirt collection has a nod to tradition in its premium finishings. But the details, materials and construction of the shirts is far more fashion forward, in line with Ronaldo’s personal style.”

“There will always be a slight twist, sexiness and edge to the line, differentiating it from other fashion collections,” he adds.

Each season, the CR7 Shirt collection will incorporate key trends.

Created in collaboration with the Danish firm JBS Textile Group, CR7’s maiden innerwear collection comprised of two sets, one meant for teenage boys and the other for fashionable adults. The luxury range includes striped socks, tight-fit briefs and boxer shorts.

Richard Chai was voted as the menswear designer of 2010 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Ronaldo plays as a forward for Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid and serves as captain of the Portuguese national team.
