'Scottish Fashion Icon' nominees revealed

The magnificent Victorian ballroom will provide the back drop to the black tie Scottish Banquet and awards ceremony and play host to Scotland’s finest designers, textile manufacturers, supermodels & fashion players for the nations most high profile celebration of fashion and style. The event will be co-hosted by The Secretary of State for Scotland Alistair Carmichael MP and awards founder Dr Tessa Hartmann.

The awards ceremony, which will be presented by MTV’s Laura Whitmore, provides an unrivalled platform for new and emerging Scottish talent and Scots working in fashion around the world. The finalists will be judged by an exclusive panel made up of professionals from the world’s leading fashion houses, the most renowned and respected fashion publications and leading figures in style including Rankin, Justine Picardie, Colin McDowell, Sara Maino, Jane Bruton and Hilary Alexander to name but a few. Celebrating the best of what Scotland has to offer in fashion, design and textiles there are 14 categories that will be unveiled on the night, with the ‘Scottish Fashion Icon’ category as the only one polled by the general public.

The shortlist highlights a taste of Scotland’s most fashionable players hailing from fashion, film, entertainment and music who are making waves on the red carpet with their own inimitable style! Founder and producer of the event Tessa Hartmann said: “People love this category as it’s the only award that is voted for by members of the general public. It’s a bit of fun, saluting our nations style icons at what is otherwise a very serious event to honour our nations biggest industry players. "We have a great list this year with plenty young blood represented by Sophie Kennedy Clark, whom we’ve seen on the front row of Chanel shows to Rose Leslie working some wonderful red carpet looks in Hollywood, to Karen Gillan who is a favourite of Louis Vuitton.

I also love the quirky off runway style of Tali Lennox, the magnetic appeal of Paolo Nutini on stage and indeed James McAvoy who has really upped his game by dressing in Prada of late for numerous red carpets. It’s also a category that is so unpredictable as it’s totally up to the public so who knows who will pick up the crown this year!”
