In its latest trading update released for the second quarter or 13 week period ended 28 June 2014, Bonmarché, one of UK’s largest women’s value retailers posted an overall 16.9 percent surge in sales growth, helped by skyrocketing growth in online sales.

In the 13 weeks period under review, online sales skyrocketed by a massive 53.5 percent and LFL sales increased by 13.5 percent. Combining online sales with the LFL figure raises the quarter’s growth figure to 15.8 percent, while total sales growth for the period stood at 16.9 percent.

Beth Butterwick, CEO of Bonmarché, said, “We have made a good start to the new financial year and the spring/summer ranges have sold well. We are pleased at the response of customers to our improved offering.”

He added, “Our new store/concession opening programme has also begun well and is on track. The good weather enjoyed during the Q1 period has had a beneficial impact on sales, although at this early stage.”

Bonmarché which trades from 268 stores/concessions as on June 28, did not change its outlook for the rest of fiscal 2014.
