Joseph Altuzarra designs new line for Target Corporation

French fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra is the latest addition to the American mass retailer Target Corporation’s designer collaborative venture.
After co-creating fashion lines with the likes of Phillip Lim, Prabal Gurung, Zac Posen, Rodarte and Peter Pilotto, the purveyor has now roped in the luxury women's ready-to-wear creator to design a nearly 50-piece collection.
Slated to be available for sale in Target’s stores and website as well as Net-A-Porter from September, 2014 onwards, the line will include classic wardrobe staples like pencil skirts, crisp lined shirts and coats replete with embroidery and bold flower snakeskin and prints.
Some of the most standout pieces from range include a green snake print sweatshirt, a python patterned pencil skirt, a crisp oxford shirt, a black sweater with bird motifs, a velvet tuxedo and an orchid print adorned maxi dress with a thigh-high slit.
The collection also features a faux fur cropped jacket, a military green and black trench coat, a crane embroidered little black dress, a purple nipped at the waist dress, a peplum blazer and a ladylike embroidered dress with an interesting neckline.
Based in New York, Altzurra is the winner of this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Womenswear Designer of the Year Award.
Founded in 1911, Target Corporation is the second-largest discount retailer in the United States. The company’s previous design partnership with the British clothing brand Peter Pilotto, owned by designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, offered a wide variety of pencil skirts, cropped tops, fit-and-flare dresses, shorts, retro-inspired swimsuits and soft beach towels.
Launched in 2000, Net-a-Porter specializes in a range of latest women’s designer clothing and accessories from over 350 international labels.
