The bi-annual German style extravaganza Berlin Fashion Week kicked off with arrays of men’s and women’s fall-2015 collections created by an interesting line-up of both local and international talents.

The German-born designer Frida Homann’s label DYN featured draped shawls, impeccably tailored suits, tunics with belted waists and flowing gray coats on the opening day.
Munich-based Laurel displayed an androgyny-inspired line created under the guidance of the brand’s founder and head of design, Elisabeth Schwaige. The collection included cutout detailed gowns, sensuous black lace bustiers, animal print adorned pencil skirts and menswear-styled parkas.
Augustin Teboul, the brand co-owned by French designer Ode´ly Teboul and German-born fashion creator Annelie Augustin, brought the mysterious nightclubs of 1920’s Berlin on stage. The seductive catwalk presentation featured leather kilts and sensuous web patterned tops.
Cologne-raised designer Kilian Kerner featured pieces replete with pinstriped fabrics and bold abstract prints. The standouts were calf-length skirts and dresses with revealing cuts.
Scheduled to run till January 22, 2015, the Mercedes Benz fashion Week in Berlin will host some 12 trade shows and over 100 catwalk parades, featuring around 3,000 brands. (PB)
