Editd, the international apparel retail analytic that gives information on how to identify the most commercially viable fashion products, has come up with a new trend report based on New York Fashion Week (NYFW) shows for retailers and fashion businesses.

The new tool offers information regarding the themes, colours, fabrics, prints and shapes that are likely to dominate the global fashion scene and carry the biggest commercial potential for the next fall-2015 season.

According to the report, the 70’s styles will make a comeback with all its retro appreciation and shaping tastes. The season will see the return of knee high boots, suede fringes, A-line skirts, sequinned party numbers and flared pants.

The forthcoming trends will also witness a lot of cosy, soft, fur-lined, printed, quilted, colourful and colourless winterwear, such as biker and cropped jackets, fox fur stoles and heavy coats, as shown at the NYFW catwalks of Rodarte, Band of Outsiders and Victor Alfaro.

In garments, capecoats, jumpsuits and turtlenecks alongside pieces with plaid, stripes and folklore-inspired prints as well as patchwork detailing will be big in the next season.

The evergreen wardrobe staple jeans will come with more flares as shown by the likes of Karen Walker, Wes Gordon and Tommy Hilfiger at the New York event. The all-time favourite denim fabric also has seen other unusual usage, including the raw-edged grey denim suit highlighted at 3.1 Phillip Lim’s presentation.

As far as colours are concerned, the fall-2015 runway extravaganza was full of earthy tones of russet, moss, mushroom and fudge along with saturated, rich pops of mustard, deep plum and the most drinkable of reds. (PB)
