Lisa Axelson, the creative director of American specialty apparel retail chain Ann Taylor, has stepped down from her position after a six-year-long stint.

The Parsons School of Design grad, who had joined the company in 2008 supervising all its product design including new brand positioning and building ideas, has exited the brand to concentrate on other creative ventures.

“I have had an amazing six and a half years with Ann Taylor. In the spirit of growth and change, I have decided to step down and reboot creatively and spend time with my family. I am so excited for the year ahead filled with possibility. I wish the company and team success in the future,” Axelson said, mentioned a blog on CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) website.

The blog also quoted the company- “Lisa Axelson has stepped down from her position as lead designer at Ann Taylor to pursue new opportunities. We appreciate her contributions over the past six years and wish her well in her future endeavours.”

The fashion talent kickstarted her career as a designer for Banana Republic before joining Gap Inc. as senior director, managing the womenswear division. Later, she became the vice president of design at Abercrombie and Fitch and was one of the key players behind the clothier’s upscale lifestyle brand Ruehl. Afterwards she joined mid-priced, high-end casual clothing purveyor Club Monaco as senior vice president of design. (PB)
