AtHashtags, a new-age service aiming to boost the sales of fashion designers and retailers by connecting them with shoppers online as well as offline via multiple-location pop-up shops, has been recently launched in beta version.

With the help of hashtags (#) and social media, the platform will not only allow shoppers to browse new brands online but would also enable them to try out items before purchasing in virtual fitting rooms. And to feel and touch the products in real life, the customers can visit the various pop-ups (MarketSquares), strategically located in high-street locations with busy foot traffic.

The retailers can use hashtags to promote their labels on social media. While the pop-up (TradePods) locations, which can be booked at up to four strategic places for two weeks, will benefit businesses by cutting down on refunds and minimising the risk and cost involved in establishing a permanent shop.

In a press statement, the firm’s founder Bernard Omolafe talked about his passion for supporting small-scale businesses across the country. “We really want to help small retail businesses grow and expand on to the high-street and online. We are sponsored by well-known companies such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft and IBM as well as several top retail giants who are all as excited as we are to reinvent the high street for the 21st century,” he said.

Shoppers can buy from the online store or pre-order to pay in the MarketSquare. They can also use smartphone or augmented reality scanners and purchase products via QR codes.

Macintosh Networks, the company behind AtHashtags, are approved Growth Vouchers advisers, the UK government’s strategic advisory scheme for small businesses. (PB)
