Mc aspire to regain market crown thru it famed jeans

Consumers recall Mc as an long time, international brand name according to a survey.

Mac Co Ltd. the producer and distributor of home-brand Mc jeans, has set its sights on regaining its lost leadership a few years ago to its big American rival, Levi's.

Company has spent hundreds of millions of baht to buy a fashion garment factory in Rangsit to enter new fashion jeans line.

Just like Levi's is for the Americans, the company wants to refurbish the Mc brand image not only jeans as one meant for family but raise it to the stature of a national brand.

The company would soon introduce Kangaroo brand for its sport and casual line in September. Mc for kids would follow next year.

To enhance the popularity of all of its products, the company will also expand its distribution channels from department store to factory outlets.

Currently, Mc has four factories with 1,000 workers. More professionals have been hired for its marketing and design teams to support future expansion.

A budget was also allocated to redesign Mc's sales counters to better suit each product line.

Higher demand for jeans in the first six months of 2006 has boosted Mc sales 25 percent, and sales of all of its clothing products in 2005 reached 700 million baht, up 17 percent from the last year.
