Aida Kawas and Frank Edouard Luca opened their new gallery, Orient 499 at west of Downtown Beirut. The gallery was scheduled to open on 13th of July but the bombardment on Beirut by Israel forced change in schedule.

The aftermath of air raids had an impact on the opening ceremony of the gallery as it was done in the simplest manner. Visitors have started to enter the showroom to have a look at the modern furniture, North African djellabas updated in Belgian Linen and subtle Embroidery, antique tables and textiles from Middle East and so on.

Kawas and Luca think that 90 percent of their goods are made in Lebanon itself. Their venture has 50 Lebanese skilled artisans and craftsmen working with them which include embroiderers and textile weavers from all over the country.

Kawas has 20 years of experience and expertise of handmade Middle Eastern textiles.

Kawas and Luca met for the first time in Istanbul even though Luca knew about Kawas and her work as he used to visit Artisans du Liban et d'Orient frequently.

Both arranged the showroom with precision mark which contains home furnishing, bath accessories and jewelry to mens, womens and childrens wear.
