Thai expertise to add sparkle to gems & jewellery business

Pakistan wants to benefit from Thailand's expertise in gems and jewellery sector in order to develop its own sector, according to Jehangir Khan Tareen, Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives.
In this regard, Pakistan's Gems and Jewellery Institute, Peshawar and Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for its promotion and development in Pakistan.
In his recent visit to Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS), the minister stated that Pakistan has vast natural resources and lot of potential to attract foreign investment in order to improve its exports.
After taking a round of various departments of the institute, the minister expressed keen interest in the research, cutting, finishing and polishing of various gems and other precious stones produced and developed for the high value exports of these products.
On her part, Nilobol, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) AIGS assured the full cooperation and technical assistance to help Pakistan to develop the gems and jewellery sector of Pakistan.
