Govt plans to induct degree programme in jewellery design

Government is planning to induct a degree programme in jewellery design and technology at Karachi University and to establish a training centre at University of Balochistan, the Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives Jehangir Khan Tareen said.
This was told at a meeting where progress of Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) was reviewed.
The PGJDC has been established under the special initiatives to promote the local gems and jewellery sector with introduction of modern equipment and practices to enhance value addition and Pakistan's exports of gems and jewellery.
A detailed presentation on ongoing activities of PGJDC was given to the minister.
