Today, modern technology and cultural diffusion has led to decrease in the importance of heritage.

Pakistan is one of the developing countries in Asia that is facing challenge of preserving cultural heritage.

Jewellery, oldest forms of body adornment, has long history with many variable uses among different cultures.

It has endured for thousands of years and has provided various insights into how ancient culture worked.

The word jewellery is derived from the word jewel, which was anglicized from the Old French 'jouel' in around the 13th century.

One of the first to start jewellery making were the peoples of the Indus Valley Civilization.

By 1,500 BC the peoples of the Indus Valley were creating gold earrings and necklaces, bead necklaces and metallic bangles.

Before 2,100 BC, prior to the period when metals were widely used, the largest jewellery trade in the Indus Valley region was the bead trade.
