Two things that never get cleared out are the medicine cabinet and the cosmetics case! Age old cosmetics half used or completely new, remained stacked in the closet for God knows how long!
However, cosmetics have an expiry date and can be harmful when used beyond. Let's see which products in the case can be used and which needs to be disposed immediately.
One thing that you never need to worry about is the nail-polish remover. Ironic, isn't it? As it just cannot last forever.
Meanwhile, nail polish can be used for around one year.
Sunscreen and mascara tend to expire within 3 to 6 months. While liquid eyeliner lasts for the same time, pencil can be used upto two years.
Blush, foundation and lipstick have expiry time between 1-2 years. Hair-spray probably lasts longest of all for 2-3 years, with water-based and pump bottle lasting longer than oil-based and screw tops.
These are just genearlized time-lines, but each expiry date depends on not only the product but also the brand and quality.
