From July 16-18, ABIHPEC participates for the second time in Cosmoprof North America, held in Las Vegas. The five Brazilian companies attending the event will present products based on the rich variety of active ingredients found in the country's flora, used to manufacture cosmetics, as well as the social and political environmental responsibility projects that have distinguished Brazil's export project.

Market data – The sector's exports have recorded an accumulated growth of 120.7% in the last five years, reaching US$ 407.6 million. In 2005, the appreciation of the real in relation to the dollar drove imports higher, growing 34.8% if compared with the previous year, and amounting to US$ 211.3 million. Nevertheless, a trade surplus of US$ 196.8 million was posted despite the negative exchange rate.

On the domestic market, a growth in the industry also yielded good results, with a 9.3% boost in volume and 14.5% rise in sales. ABIHPEC expects the industry will see a growth of roughly 10% in 2006. The forecast is for investments to hold at US$ 100 million p.a. until 2010, and be prioritized toward expanding the already installed plants.
