The process begins when a seller contacts Portero with a watch they've previously purchased and no longer want. By working closely with Tourneau's professional team of experts, the watch is authenticated and documented in a secure database and issued a Tourneau Certificate of Authenticity. It then becomes available on an online exchange, such as eBay, for purchase. Tourneau will receive a percentage of each transaction for its expertise.
"They're delighted to partner with Portero which we believe is legitimizing the secondary market of online auctions for luxury goods," said Howard Levitt, Tourneau's President. "They recognize this is the future for buying and selling pre-owned luxury goods online and a way for us to extend their brand to the secondary marketplace. Goal is to provide online buyers and sellers with the absolute assurance they are receiving maximum value for their watches, just as they impart to customers in their retail stores."
Portero, founded in early 2004, is the leading venue for buying and selling luxury goods online. Portero provides services that allow consumers to essentially lease luxury by buying new goods and paying for them with things they no longer need or want. Portero also provides corporations, luxury brands and retailers with a way to channel their products to the secondary market in a manner that protects their brand. Their mission is to maximize the value of luxury goods and collectibles and give customers the best online auction experience possible.
