The 15th edition of Fevest, the Brazilian Underwear Fashion Trade Show, was held August 7-10 in the mountains in the city of Nova Friburgo, 170 km from the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Fevest is considered to be the largest underwear fair in Latin America and it gathered nearly 200 exhibiters among day underwear, evening underwear, beachwear and fitness wear manufacturers and raw material and technology suppliers for these segments.

The event received more than 15 thousand visitors as well as national and international buyers. It is held by the Nova Friburgo and Region Garment Industry Union (SINDVEST) with the support of the Rio de Janeiro Federation of Industries (FIRJAN), Sebrae and the Fashion Council.

It is also sponsored by Banco do Brasil and receives institutional support from ABIT, which through the Texbrasil Program in partnership with APEX-Brasil brought international buyers and journalists.

The opening of the Fair reinforced the social and economic importance of the underwear fashion segment for the Friburgo Textile Complex, which includes six townships: Cordeiro, Cantagalo, Bom Jardim, Duas Barras, Macuco and Nova Friburgo. The Complex gathers a total of 900 companies, generates 20 thousand jobs and produces 114 million pieces/year.

Several representatives of entities that hold and support the Fair were present at the opening, including Fernando Pimentel from ABIT, and municipal and state government authorities.

The Origin and Quality Seal was a highlight at this Fevest. Its objective is to provide the products with greater visibility and guarantee the buyer with a quality and standard certificate for the modeled pieces based on a single measurement table. The Seal has the technical management of Senai Moda, Senai Cetiqt and Inmetro.

As in 2003, the Fair held the Destaque de Moda Award to recognize small, medium and large companies that stood out in 2006 in two categories: Fashion Design and Social and Corporate Responsibility.

Fevest held two collective fashion shows each day and Lectures.
