Mervyns appoints Gary Schettino as Division Merchandise Manager

San Lorenzo, California based leading promotional neighborhood department store Mervyns, announced appointment of Gary Schettino as Divisional Merchandise Manager, men's. Schettino will report directly to Michael Wallen, Mervyns' Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager, women's ready-to-wear, men's and kids'.
“Gary's combination of strong leadership abilities and extensive retail industry experience make him an excellent fit for Mervyns,” said Michael Wallen. “His contributions will be integral to Mervyns' success as we continue to provide customers with innovative, trend-right merchandise at exceptional values.”
Schettino will be responsible for overseeing merchandising, product development, strategic planning and allocation for the men's division at Mervyns. Most recently, Schettino served as Senior Vice President of Guess? Inc, a leading manufacturer of young men's and juniors apparel, accessories and footwear based in Los Angeles. Prior to that, Gary was President of Rags, a Long Beach, Calif. based retailer with more than 150 stores and $150 million in sales.
Previous to that, he spent 13 years with Macy's West, a division of Federated Department Stores, where his most recent position was Vice President and divisional merchandise manager of men's designer and collections. He has also held various merchandising positions with retailers such as Marshall's, Robinson's, Pacific Eyes and T's, and Kaufmann's. Schettino holds a bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH.
