The Body: Connections with Fashion 10th Annual Conference for the International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes (IFFTI) hosted by RMIT University: School of Architecture & Design and School of Fashion & Textiles, Melbourne, Australia.

The conference will held on 13 - 14 March 2008, the overall theme aims to capture research in various disciplines of fashion and related practices that explore notions of the body in fashion.

The theme enables a diversity of research foci related to the body and its connection to fashion; from the utilitarian function of clothing to the discipline of semiotics; from the business of fashion to manufacturing, materials technology, design innovation, history and education.

The Conference will be structured as a platform for a series of diverse but related themes that reflect current research directions and strengths of IFFTI members and the broader research community.

Abstracts for papers are invited for, but not limited to, any of the listed themes. Not all papers will necessarily be organised into themes at the Conference as there will be open category sessions to accommodate other papers of interest.
