Charming Shoppes mite for Katrina relief work

Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Catherines Plus Sizes stores, and the Old Pueblo Traders catalog, divisions of Leading multi-channel specialty apparel retailer Charming Shoppes Inc, will make a donation of 200,000 units of new apparel and shoes to assist in relief efforts following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

The majority of donated product is from each brand's plus-size apparel assortments, the need for which has been specifically expressed. The Company expects the donated apparel and shoes to be distributed during the next 2 -3 weeks. Charming Shoppes would like to express its thanks and gratitude to the Philadelphia Police Athletic League (PAL), which is helping the Company coordinate the delivery of the goods to some of the hardest hit localities.

In an effort to provide assistance to the Company's associates impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Company has also organized an employee contribution effort, the CSI Relief Fund, to provide its associates in need with special financial assistance.

Employee contributions, along with a 100 percent matching contribution from Charming Shoppes Inc, will be used to create the CSI Relief Fund. By making a financial gift to support the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, the CSI Relief Fund can provide immediate and critical financial assistance to fellow associates who have suffered overwhelming losses.

Bensalem based Apparel retailer Charming Shoppes Inc operates 2,236 retail stores in 48 states under the names LANE BRYANT, FASHION BUG, FASHION BUG PLUS, and CATHERINES PLUS SIZES. It offers women's plus-size apparel.

Additionally, the following apparel, accessories, footwear and gift catalogs are operated by Charming Shoppes' Crosstown Traders: Old Pueblo Traders, Bedford Fair, Willow Ridge, Lew Magram, Brownstone Studio, Regalia, Intimate Appeal, Monterey Bay Clothing Company, Coward Shoe and Figi's. During the twenty-six weeks ended July 30, 2005 the Company opened 25, relocated 35, and closed 10 retail stores.
