Shoe Carnival & SKECHERS to raise money for victims of Hurricane

Trend-setting footwear leader SKECHERS USA Inc and Evansville based leading retailer value-price footwear and accessories retailer Shoe Carnival Inc announced that the two companies are partnering in an effort to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Red wristbands with the words Katrina Disaster Relief will be available for a minimum $1 donation at Shoe Carnival stores in key locations on Friday, September 16, expanding nationwide within the week. One hundred percent of the funds collected will go to the American Red Cross. Shoe Carnival and SKECHERS have funded the initial run of 250,000 wristbands.

"Company have witnessed firsthand some of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, as seen a significant number of employees affected in the region. Hearts go out to those in the area, and doing what can to help," said Cliff Sifford, Executive Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Shoe Carnival. "Through the sale of these wristbands, they believe many of customers will generously donate more than the one dollar are asking for-potentially raising far more than $250,000."

Michael Greenberg, President of SKECHERS, said: "The devastation of Hurricane Katrina is catastrophic. The challenges the people of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are facing and will continue to face for weeks, months, and years to come are difficult to imagine. Company have already donated a large number of shoes as well as a monetary gift to the American Red Cross, and are pleased to join forces with Shoe Carnival to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina."
