Macintosh Retail announces higher profit for 2007

The operating result for 2007 is expected to be higher than the 2006 record level (€ 64.8 million), despite the consolidation in 2007 of Scapino's month of January, which was loss making due to clearance sales, with an adverse effect of - € 1.7 million.
Net profit on continuing operations for the full year 2007 is expected to be higher than the 2006 record level (€ 42.2 million).
Total net profit for 2007 is expected to be substantially higher compared with 2006 (€ 46.0 million), partly because of the non-recurring net gain of € 3.8 million (book gain of € 7.6 million minus operational result 2006 of € 3.8 million) on balance, thanks to the effects of the sale of the furniture activities on January 1, 2007.
The audit of the 2007 figures is not yet finalised and therefore the figures on which this trading update has been based, can still change.
The full annual figures for 2007 as well as an update on turnover and results 2007 of shoe retailer Brantano, acquired in the beginning of January 2008, will be published before the opening of the stock exchange on March 13, 2008.
They will be presented on the same day in the Okura Hotel, Amsterdam, at an analysts' meeting and a press conference at 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m., respectively.
