Quanzhou city of Fujian Province which ranks the second in China shoes industry, exported shoes worth US $2.4 billion in 2007. The average export unit price increased by 16.5 percent in comparison to 2006. This city is still one of the main sports shoes production bases in the world.
Last year, the local Inspection and Quarantine department examined 103,200 shipments of shoes in total. Around 813 million pairs of shoes worth $2.432 billion were shipped, which saw a plunge of 4.7 percent in terms of quantity. However, the export value increased by 5.1 percent.
According to the local Government officials, the shoes enterprises overcame factors like RMB appreciation, shortage of labor force, decrease of export rebate rate, anti-dumping investigation from EU, finally, the region was able to stabilize its market share in international arena.
