Footwear industry faces dearth of workers

After spring festival, many shoe manufacturers of Huizhou city, Guangdong Province, are unable to function smoothly, owing to lack of workforce.

Many local entrepreneurs are trying hard to employ workers. The lowest salary offered is 1000 yuan a month, still efficiency as well as intake level is poor. As a result, only few production units have started formally. Eventhough, domestic producers are getting lot of orders, they are unable to meet demand.

According to one of the factory owner, in Jielong district of Huizhou city, shoes manufacturers were short of nearly 80,000 employees.

Experts believe that, with continuous development of backlands, there is a huge demand of workers, and wages offered to them are quite good. For instance, lot of footwear industries are coming up in Sichuan and Hunan Province, which are offering salary similar to Guangdong province.

Now, another reason for dearth of workers is that, they are unwilling to leave their home town to look for employment in other provinces.
