Converse is an American athletic shoe brand announced long-term, strategic partnership with professional basketball star Dwyane Wade to create footwear, apparel and equipment for America's first basketball brand.
"Dwyane has proven to be an important partner in re-establishing Converse basketball," said Jack Boys, Converse CEO. "They are confident this will be a mutually successful relationship with Dwyane."
Converse's legacy and its position as The First School of the game began even before professional basketball was established. Starting with the Chuck Taylor All Star shoe in 1923, Converse led with footwear innovations that resulted in unmatched, legendary performance basketball shoes that defined eras and contributed to the evolution of the game. Converse enlisted Wade at the beginning of his professional career as his style of play and the values he shares with the brand made him an ideal partner.
Wade will continue to be actively involved in the design and development of every product using his name including footwear, apparel, accessories and equipment.
"I am excited to extend my partnership with one of the premier shoe and apparel companies in the world. Converse represents tradition, a passion for sports and has a vision to revolutionize the industry," said Dwyane Wade.
"Dwyane's understanding of the essence of basketball and ability to bring his unique creativity and originality to the game make the partnership a perfect fit," said Ric Wilson, Director of Sports Marketing. "Dwyane joins the legacy of great Converse players like Julius Erving and represents the values of the brand."
