Gauri & Nainika offered us a look inspired by the chic that could be found in Paris after the WWII when the Grand Couturiers made women's dreams come true again.
The collection comprised essentially feminine dresses in body curve enhancing dramatic silhouettes.
The designers showed slim-fitted pencil cocktail dresses and flowing evening gowns with eclectic folds, subtle drapes and sensual layering of fabrics.
The waist was generally narrow and contrasted charmingly with the wide flowing, sometimes even trailing-behind skirts.
A colour palette which would have been loved by Grace Kelly contained blushed pinks, acid greens, blood reds and classic blacks.
The designer duo's creations were sensational and effective simply through their skilled drapes and folds which did not need any additional surface embellishment to leave a dramatic impression.
Classic noble fabrics dominated the range. Silk satins, textures, wools and tulles had enough body to be selected for a lady-like look which reminded one of the glamorous red carpet chic of the early 50s and 60s.
With their fall '08 collection, Gauri & Nainika clearly demonstrated strong skills in silhouette development, contouring and high quality tailoring which brought out the fabric properties at its best.
This programme showed what women want – a fairytale ladylike look for the coming festive season to look forward to.
