Thriving cosmetic firms anticipate a 5% growth

Japanese cosmetic manufacturers are very optimistic about sales reaping higher revenue this year than the previous one.

Leading Japanese cosmetic producers, Shiseido and DHC are hopeful that the premium market in Thailand would grow by about 5 percent.

Experts believe that since women were more aware and conscious about the products they are using, the market is expected be more volatile in the coming years. The best advantage cosmetic business has over the others is that, women would perpetually end up spending money on beauty, ensuring a substantial earning every year.

DHC is very confident that sales will continue to grow at the rate of 5 percent and is expecting an increase in its consumers from 70,000 to 75,000.

Shiseido on the other hand, believes that in spite of missing its target last year due to critical political and economic situation, the company will achieve better growth in the future.

DHC has set aside Baht200 million as marketing budget and plans to improve customer relationship management activities. Besides, the company is also considering investment in developing IT system and cooperation with business alliances to offer discounts for DHC members.

Moreover, it is also going to expand its service channel by investing Baht30 million to establish its first shop called DHC Olive Beauty at Siam Paragon shopping complex.

Meanwhile, Shiseido will focus on its high performance product line especially skin care and fragrances that suits the customer preferences. It has set up a research and development center in Thailand to earn the reputation of being an international company.

The global turnover of Shiseido was 725 billion yen or Baht222 billion representing a rise of 4.4 percent. Overseas sales accounted for nearly 36.4 percent of the total turnover.
