Last season Raakesh Agarvwal presented the most gorgeous evening wear line that dazzled the audience. For Autumn/Winter 2008 at Lakme Fashion Week the designer put his talents to the test by being inspired by the intricate life of New York City with dramatic touches of baroque Parisian door frames.
Textures played an important role to match the inspirations in Raakesh's creations as the all black boiled cashmere lamb and Merino wool, duchesses satin, charmeuse, tulle, rib, jersey, snake and crocodile skin were turned into silhouettes with seam detailing of the artistic kind.
'Art Graphisme' is how Raakesh titled the collection as geometric embroidery highlighted the shapes as they moved from skinny to voluminous.
Masculine detailing appeared in the form of sweaters and capes while the look was always smart and futuristic. Unconventional detailing started with hand knotted cashmere yarn, strips of satin while Macramé created magic for stoles, wraps and jackets
Starting with a satin short blouson hem dress with balloon sleeves and patent leather detailing; the other stunners in the collection were the knit figure hugging mini with a key hole neckline, knit pencil mini with shimmering shrug, a sensational knitted woollen long coat, velvet palazzos with a sheer embroidered poncho and the dramatic line of long sensuous gowns that were the ultimate in feminine Red Carpet glamour.
Raakesh Agarvwal once again scored with a collection that proved that he is a creator of subtle glamour that has a timeless appeal around the globe.
