Westside, an established and leading chain of retail stores across India, takes a significant step to introduce new talent into the fashion industry.
A pioneer in creating affordable fashion, Westside takes another significant step in this direction by associating with the 'Emerging Designers' at Lakme Fashion Week 2008.
To promote the designers of tomorrow and give them a retail platform at national level, Westside will select few designers from Lakme Fashion Week, who will showcase specially created prêt collections at Westside stores across India.
This will be the first time that a retail store, like Westside, will give the new talent of fashion industry an access to such a large customer base.
That's not all, once selected by Westside, the emerging designers will be mentored by leading designer, Mr. Narendra Kumar, through their journey to create an exclusive range for Westside customers.
The new designers will get a rare opportunity to work with and learn from Mr. Narendra Kumar while he guides them through the process.
Announcing the initiative, Simone Tata, Chairman Emeritus, Trent said “In our endeavor to encourage new talent we will be giving some of these extremely talented Emerging Designers at LFW a platform to showcase their prêt collections across Westside stores in the country”.
This year, the Emerging Designers category has 9 extremely talented designers. The couture being showcased by them vary from contemporary western to timeless conventional designs.
