Fossil Inc, a leading fashion accessory giant in America has plans to set up a plant in Himachal Pradesh to manufacture and sell watches for top international brands.
Expected to get done with the project by the end of this year, Fossil India, a domestic subsidiary, will make a start with eight international brands of watches and jewelry.
Sources informed Fibre2fashion that Fossil will retail these brands through exclusive outlets to be set up mainly in the metropolitan cities of the country. Besides, it will also market its products through departmental stores in India.
One of the main strategies of Fossil is to start operations with watches and later expand its domain to include fashion, jewelry and leather accessories. The company has recently acquired the ownership of domestic fashion jewelry brand Oyzterbay and will re-launch the products in the market very soon.
Watch market in India has already become competitive with the entry of Seiko, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss and the Swatch Group. With Fossil working out a plan to introduce newer brands apart from its own, the market is sure to bustle with a slew of actions.
