LaCrosse Footwear Inc, a leading provider of branded work and outdoor footwear for expert users, announced its plans to develop a new distribution center to be located in the greater Indianapolis, Ind. area.
LaCrosse Footwear will consolidate its two distribution centers in La Crosse, Wis. into one world-class facility to improve the Company's operating efficiencies. Completion for the project is targeted for the first half of 2009. The Midwest distribution center will complement the existing Portland, Ore. distribution center.
“As we execute our long-term growth strategy, we continue to invest in the core areas of our business that will strengthen service to our customers,” said David P. Carlson, executive vice president and chief financial officer of LaCrosse Footwear, Inc. “The new distribution center will allow us to get closer to our customers and increase our speed of delivery.”
LaCrosse developed stringent selection criteria to aid in the selection of the new location. In addition to creating greater capacity for growth, the location of the new distribution center will also allow the Company to take advantage of proximity of common carrier hubs.
Approximately 70 percent of LaCrosse's domestic customers can be reached within one day from Indianapolis. The new distribution center will deliver improved efficiencies through intelligent design and cost effective automation.
