Men's Wearhouse co-sponsors 5th annual Capitol PurSuit Drive

Congressional leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, joined co-sponsors Men's Wearhouse and the American League of Lobbyists to celebrate the fifth annual Capitol PurSuit Drive.

The philanthropic effort generated more than 10,000 articles of used clothing to distribute to disadvantaged men and women in the Washington D.C. area, enough apparel to fill 60 rolling racks and 2,000 square feet of storage space. Donations were made at the foyer of the Rayburn House Office Building between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Most of the clothes were donated from lobbying firms, Congressional offices and even the White House.

“The Men's Wearhouse is happy to continue its partnership with the American League of Lobbyists in co-sponsoring another successful Capitol PurSuit Drive,” said George Zimmer, chairman of Men's Wearhouse. “In our business we know the difference a suit can make.

With the help of local nonprofit organizations, we are able to help make that difference for disadvantaged men and women who are taking steps toward self-sufficiency. “We feel privileged to help those transitioning back into society and gainful employment and hope we can make a difference with a continued effort this fall,” Zimmer said.

Underscoring his company's commitment to underserved men, particularly those struggling to re-enter the workforce, Zimmer announced a new national suit drive initiative to be spearheaded by Men's Wearhouse during September and October of thisyear. With all 580 Men's Wearhouse stores participating, the company will gather and distribute clothing to more than 160 local and regional non-profit organizations in cities across the country.
