IMG signs agreement to acquire Australian Fashion Innovators

IMG, the world's premier sports and lifestyle management and marketing firm, has signed an agreement to acquire Australian Fashion Innovators (AFI) and with it the region's premier fashion event, Mercedes Australian Fashion Week, it was announced by Martin Jolly, IMG's Asia Pacific Managing Director.
The acquisition also includes the management and production of the Mercedes-Benz Start Up program in Australia and New Zealand, the Mercedes-Benz Asia Fashion Award program which is currently held in six countries throughout Asia, the Singapore Fashion Festival and other fashion events around the Asia Pacific region that are in development, including events in India, China and Japan. Simon P. Lock, founder and former CEO of Australian Fashion Innovators, has been named Managing Director of the newly formed IMG FASHION Asia Pacific.
IMG's global clients include the Australian Rally Championship, Jennifer Capriati, Chris Evert, Sergei Fedorov, Sergio Garcia, Gisele, Jeff Gordon, the GRAMMYS, Scott Hamilton, Elizabeth Hurley, the International Olympic Committee, Michael Johnson, Major League Baseball, Manchester United, John McEnroe, Jack Nicklaus, The Nobel Foundation, Oxford University, Arnold Palmer, Itzhak Perlman, Philips, Roger Federer, Ronaldo, the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the Royal Horticultural Society, Rugby World Cup, Pete Sampras, Michael Schumacher, Maria Sharapova, Vijay Singh, Annika Sorenstam, Picabo Street, the Sydney Opera House, Liv Tyler, the Spanish Riding School, USGA, the US Olympic Committee, Wembley National Stadium, Venus Williams, Wimbledon and Tiger Woods.
Mercedes Australian Fashion Week's Autumn Winter '06 Collections are staged in Melbourne from 24-28 October 2005. The inaugural Asia Pacific Fashion Forum presented by DHL runs 24-25 October 2005 and is a two-day seminar attended by leading fashion industry figures from around the Asia Pacific region.
