Marimekko has combined its two retail shops in Turku, Finland, into a new, 350 square-metre store to be opened in the Hansa shopping centre, 28 August 2008.
The new shop is filled with exciting discoveries and surprises; it is a welcoming meeting point where customers can experience the whole inspiring Marimekko lifestyle concept.
The inviting interior of the store has been designed by architect Toni Kauppila and his team. The light and airy interior reflects Marimekko's philosophy of everyday beauty and happiness and a positive attitude to life.
The design of the space is inspired by the Marimekko shop interiors of the 1960s, a vital tradition combining emotional experiences with modern rationality.
The store and its furnishings are designed to frame the cheerful and colourful world of products and to enhance the characteristics of the products and the display of various product ensembles.
Marimekko has 23 retail stores of its own in Finland and two shops abroad: one in Stockholm, Sweden, and the other in Frankfurt, Germany.
In addition, there are about 50 Marimekko concept stores worldwide at the moment; these shops are owned by independent retailers. Marimekko products are sold in over 40 countries.
