John Lewis store stands tall amidst difficult times

The John Lewis Partnership, the leading UK retail businesses - Waitrose, John Lewis and Greenbee has nearly 69,000 Partners. The company which is into sales of various products like garments for men, women and children, home décor and furniture observed an annual decline of 2.4 percent in the third week of August.
The officials stated that trade was more difficult, with continued uncertainty both in the economy and the weather. Despite this, there were gains that JL made excellent increases were seen in girlswear and nursery, all showcasing a hike of about 10 percent.
Footwear of women also observes a rise of 6 percent on the year. Haberdashery grew 10 percent on last year, including a 35 percent increase in sewing machines. The introduction of new brands for example Descamps has helped to drive a 6.6 percent uplift in sales of bed sheets. Garden furniture also witnessed a rise of 5 percent during the same period.
The John Lewis stores at Oxford Street, Edinburgh and Trafford all have performed well in comparison to last year and it hopes to continue doing well rest of the year also.
