ABIT supports Claro Rio Summer fashion event

The Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT), through Texbrasil, a Program developed in partnership with Apex-Brasil, is sponsoring Claro Rio Summer, a beach and summer fashion event geared towards the international market that will be held in Rio de Janeiro, at Copacabana Fort, November 5-8. In its first edition, the event becomes part of the national calendar of sector events promoted by ABIT.

"Claro Rio Summer focuses on beach and summer fashion since it is a segment in which Brazil can no doubt stand out in a prominent manner in the international scenario,” says Alexandre Macedo, marketing director at N-Idéias, the company that created the event.

For ABIT president Aguinaldo Diniz Filho, Claro Rio Summer is the showcase for a sustainable Brazil: “Brazil is culturally and environmentally wealthy and many inspirations can come from here.

We have Brazilianness as a strong commercial appeal, adding value to our products. I am sure that with the visibility the event will bring to our brands, Brazil's participation in this niche will grow even more abroad.”

With a coastline that stretches more than 7 thousand KM, Brazil is a reference in beach and swim fashion, having produced 273.5 million pieces last year alone.

However, despite the production volume, exports are still rather timid: only 1.1% of the total produced in the beachwear segment was sent to other countries in 2007, according to ABIT data.

The brands that will participate in the first edition of Claro Rio Summer are Adriana Degreas, Blue Man, Carlos Miele, Cia. Marítima, Cris Barros, 284, Iodice, Isabela Capeto, Jo de Mer, Lenny, Osklen, Patricia Viera, Raia de Goeye, Rosa Chá, Salinas, Totem and Triya.
