Fashion turned into a "Buoyant Passion" as Nalandda Bhandari's collection was called for Spring/Summer 2009 at Lakme Fashion Week.
She designed for women with a lot of joi de vivre for life; so the look was prêt with a romantic old world charm. A touch of Venetian splendour was visible with layers, different textures, lots of ruffles and the totally feminine collection was a dream to behold in pure georgette, chiffon and at times teamed with cotton, linen, jersey and splashed with delicate embroidery.
Cool shifts, slim long dresses, shorts, sexy skirts, tunics and blouses were in summer colours of red, green, orange, fuchsia and of course white. The silhouettes moved from flowing volumes to simple lines.
Detailing came in the form of pleats, ruffles and trimmed flounces. Embroidery was either shadow work or beautiful 'kardana' in designs like checks, rosettes, clubs and spades.
Outfits that will appeal to the stylish women were the purple overlapping cotton dress with beaded lace edging, the white and gold upholstery fabric tube dress with roses on one shoulder, the very summery sunflower dress, the gorgeous orange jersey one shoulder creation, the stunning red empire line gown, the multi-coloured shaded chiffon halter maxi and the final silver gown on Bollywood's rising young star, Ada Sharma.
For a Venetian look in romantic attire, Nalandda Bhandari's "Buoyant Passion" will be the perfect collection for an ultra feminine impact.
